It’s official! Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are married! The couple said their vows at the San Ysidro Ranch in California this weekend.
Jessica and Eric, who have two children together, entered the ceremony as a pair to The Beach Boys “God Only Knows.” Their 200 guests certainly approved of their entrance.
Although photos haven’t been released yet, word is that the bride wore a custom-made gown by Carolina Herrera. She opted for a very fashionable champagne and gold dress for her second marriage.
Jessica joins another famous Jessica, Jessica Biel, in wearing a colored wedding dress. The latter wore a pale pink dress by Giambattista Valli at her 2012 wedding to Justin Timberlake.
She’s also not the only Simpson set to get married this year. Her younger sister, Ashlee, is also engaged and is also likely to have a summer wedding.
What do you think of Jessica Simpson wearing a non-white dress? Do you think Ashlee will join her sister in the colored dress trend?
Whether you’re looking for a colored dress or a white dress for your wedding, give us a call to find the perfect gown. We have plenty for you to choose from at our Salt Lake City bridal salon!

Veils are a beautiful and traditional addition to any bride’s wedding day attire. However, with so many styles and lengths available, it can get confusing. Here are some of the most common lengths and what dresses they are perfect with.
- Birdcage: This short veil is often a structured addition to a headpiece, and can cover all or part of the bride’s face. It is perfect with a retro or vintage style and shorter gowns.
- Shoulder: Ending just around the shoulder, this shorter length veil is a great choice if you want the nod to tradition without the fuss. This is perfect for a gown with a decorative bodice you want to show off.
- Elbow: A longer style, the elbow length ends further down your back, just around the level of your elbows. It is a great choice if you are wearing a strapless dress and want something that also serves as a cover-up.
- Fingertip: This veil length ends just below the hips, meaning it can give a sheer covering to a backless dress.
- Waltz: This is the shortest of the long veils. Reaching to the mid-calf, it is ideal for keeping on through the reception. It works perfectly with a detailed bodice and waist, and is a great formal style.
- Floor: This veil will just hit the floor, and in general will be the same length as your gown. It is a great choice if you want to add fullness to a simple silhouette.
- Chapel: Reaching just beyond the length of the gown, this is a very formal long veil style. It is great for formal styles that don’t have a train, as it can give the illusion of one.
- Cathedral: The longest veil style, this reaches far beyond the end of the dress, whether or not it has a train. It is perfect for a formal wedding where a dramatic entrance is part of the joy. It should be worn with an equally formal gown.

Your wedding dress serves an amazing purpose. It is what you wear on one of the most important days of your life. But after all the effort you’ve put into finding the perfect gown, are you wondering what you’ll do with it after the wedding? Here are three great ideas.
- Preservation: This is the most popular choice, as it keeps your dress as a pristine keepsake of your wedding. Preserving your dress will also keep it safe should any future generations want to wear it.
- Trash the Dress Photos: This growing trend gives you the chance to let loose. You and your husband have a post-wedding photo shoot in which you get really messy in your formal attire. The images are something you will cherish and bring back fond memories of your wedding’s fun.
- Alteration: Depending on the style of dress you have chosen, you might be able to alter it for wearing elsewhere. Some styles can be converted into shorter cocktail dresses, or turned into a dress that is perfect for another formal event.

Will you be wearing one dress or two for your wedding day? Many brides are choosing to wear a separate dress for their reception.
Wearing a second dress for the reception can be a good idea if you are planning a formal ceremony but a more relaxed reception. It can allow you the princess style you want for photos, but mean you don’t need to worry about damaging it while you party through the night.
Of course, having a second dress is not without problems. For one, you need to find a time and place to change, and might feel you need to redo your hair and makeup to suit it. This is time you aren’t spending with your guests.
You might also want to avoid the extra costs, or want to spend as much time as possible in the perfect wedding dress you have found for your big day. Wearing two dresses will add to your dress budget, and the amount of time it will take to find your perfect dresses.
Whether you choose one dress or two, you’ll need to shop at a great Salt Lake City bridal salon. To see what we can offer you for your wedding, give us a call today!

It’s not uncommon for a bride to say she wants to feel like a princess on her wedding day. While you might not be royalty, there’s nothing to stop you from having a fairytale-inspired wedding to make you feel like it.
Ball gowns are the obvious choice for a fairytale wedding. Full skirts and beautiful bodices are ideal if you want a Cinderella style for your big day. Crystal and beaded accents are perfect additions to this style.
If you want something more understated, consider the fit and flare mermaid silhouette. This is perfect for a Little Mermaid-inspired wedding style. It is also perfect for a formal wedding, but can also work well for a more relaxed wedding day.
Whatever style of wedding dress you’re considering, when you’ve chosen the right style for you, you’ll be sure to feel like a fairytale princess. To finish off your princess style, why not consider a fabulous tiara for an accessory?

Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day, but should this mean going on a crash diet before the big day? There are arguments for dieting and for not dieting, and it is a choice that you’ll need to make for yourself.
If you are trying to shed a few pounds, remember that this might mean you will need more alterations. A bride whose body changes dramatically from the first fitting to the last may end up paying extra for a seamstress to get the dress to look good on her new shape.
While getting in shape can make you look better, it might also change the way your dress looks on you. If your proportions change, the dress you’ve chosen might not suit you in the same way. When dieting, you can’t be sure that your body will all lose inches at the same rate.
On the other hand, once you have your dress, you can look to diet and exercise to get a more toned look. One thing that many brides focus on is their arms, especially if they are wearing a sleeveless gown.
One thing you should never do is buy a dress that is too small with the idea that you will lose weight to fit into it. A dress can be taken in much easier than it can be let out, and a bride squeezed into a too small dress is never a good look!

Grecian style gowns have been popular for years, but they’re set to be a huge trend for 2014 and 2015 brides. They are easy to wear, flattering, and come in many different varieties, meaning there’s a Grecian for every bride.
The basic element of the Grecian silhouette is a full length dress with an empire waist. Most styles feature a ruched bodice and straight skirt, but there are exceptions to the rule. The most common fabric for Grecian gowns is chiffon, as it offers an ethereal look that is perfect for the Greek goddess style.
Grecian wedding dresses were a big trend at New York Bridal Week last month. Designers love this silhouette, giving it embellishments like belts, straps, and flowing trains.
It’s also a perfect choice if you want to let your accessories shine. The simplicity of the silhouette is beautiful while allowing the other aspects of your attire to get the attention they deserve.

You know you want to look fantastic when you walk into your wedding, but during the ceremony, most of your guests will likely be looking at the back of your gown. This is part of why dramatic backs are a growing trend for bridal gowns.
An excellent way to wear a dramatic back is through a backless gown. With a plunging line, these show off some skin in a romantic and sexy way. The best way to wear this trend is with a detailed backline. Look for a skin-hugging lace or loose cowl back as a way to add interest and style.
If you want a dramatic back without baring all, consider an illusion back. Much like the illusion neckline, this style offers the appearance of being bare, but with the comfortable feeling of full coverage. Illusion backs also give the look of floating accents and details across the back for a very romantic style.
Another big trend for designers is the racer back. This is a fabulous style if you want a bit of bling, too. With a line of detailed decorative elements running along your spine, you get a fantastic look that is elegant and modern.

Wedding designers have been showing off their Spring 2015 collections and pearls are taking center stage. They are being added to gowns in the same way that crystals have been. This gives a soft, feminine style that is perfect for any Utah bride.
Pearl embellishments aren’t the only way to wear this trend, though. Pearls can also be an excellent accessory for your wedding day. The classic string of pearls is perfectly matched with an illusion neckline gown or sweetheart neckline.
Simple pearl stud earrings are an elegant choice for any bridal style. A pearl cuff is an excellent addition to a vintage style wedding dress, too.
You can also look for pearl accents on your other accessories. A veil clip or tiara can use pearls instead of or alongside crystals. You can even look for pearl-accented shoes to wear under your gown.
Of course, pearls are also perfect for your bridesmaids. A long string of pearls can be worn in a variety of ways to allow each maid to express her own style while keeping a uniform appearance.

A common concern for brides is choosing a dress that their bridesmaids will love. This often means choosing something that they can wear again. Most bridesmaids worry that they simply don’t attend enough formal functions to get use out of an evening gown. The solution to this is simple — have your bridesmaids wear a little black dress.
The little black dress, or LBD, is a fashion staple. Most of your bridesmaids will probably have more than one in their closet already. This functional wardrobe essential can be given a fabulous wedding twist when you have all your bridesmaids wearing the same dress.
Don’t worry about the color, either. If you want a very elegant wedding, consider using black and white as your wedding colors. If you still want a splash of color, have your bridesmaids wear their LBDs with a bright sash. The LBD is also the perfect choice if you want them to wear some bold accessories.
You don’t need to shop around all the department stores to find the perfect LBD for your bridesmaids. There are a variety of bridesmaid styles that can be found at your Salt Lake City bridal salon that they will be happy to wear again.
